Herbs
Very few Americans ever experience the flavor of truly fresh herbs. Most herbs are dried and the fresh ones in the grocery store are shipped across country and have been off the plant for days or weeks before they ever hit your table.
For a taste treat try some fresh herbs taken from the plants on the day you buy them. Herbs in season include:
- Basil
- Chives
- Cilantro (coriander)
- Dill (seed and fern leaf)
- Fennel
- Horseradish
- Mint
- Oregano
- Parsley
- Rosemary
- Sage
- Tarragon (French)
- Thyme
For the truly adventuresome we will provide fresh edible flowers like nasturtiums, pansies, and others flowers for your salads. They will be picked while you wait or if you click on “Preorder” on the right of your screen the herbs will be picked less than and hour before you arrive and waiting for you.
Herb Tips: Herbs lose flavor more quickly after washing. Wash when you are ready to use. Refrigerate in a paper bag or on a paper towel and not in plastic. To keep your basil fresh longer re-cut the stems, place the stem ends in water, and refrigerate.
